The dawn hour
Coffee and pastries appear in the Lookout as the ship enters harbour. Photographers and early swimmers take the light; everyone else sleeps on, gloriously.
Breakfast, unhurried
On your veranda, on the Terrace, or in the Restaurant. The papaya is from the market we passed yesterday. Nobody has ever once rushed you.
Ashore, or afloat
A zodiac to a glacier, a guided walk through a temple town, a kayak into a grotto — or a long morning in the spa. Both are correct.
The long lunch
The day's destination on the plate: grilled sardines in Greece, king crab in Norway, poisson cru off Moorea. Wines poured generously and without ceremony.
The historian's hour
In the Library, with Madeira: tomorrow's port, told as a story. Alternatively, afternoon tea — scones at sea are a sacred trust.
Sailaway
Champagne on deck as the lines come in. The best light of the day, and we have scheduled nothing against it. This is deliberate.
Dinner
Four venues, no set seating, no surcharge. The sommelier remembers Tuesday. So will you.
The night sky
A digestif in the Lookout, the ship darkened for stargazing. In the fjords the sun refuses to set; in the Pacific, the Milky Way does the work instead.
The philosophy
Luxury is time,
guarded
We schedule the light and nothing else. Sailaways are timed for golden hour; lectures end before the best part of the afternoon; the dress code is "considered," and the definition of considered is yours.
What we provide without being asked: the binoculars, the booking, the blanket on your veranda chair at dusk, the second glass without the first question.
Not a gesture — a person. Unpacking, reservations, a favourite gin appearing unasked on day three. 132 suites, 240 crew: the arithmetic of attention.
Historians, naturalists, glaciologists and photographers who live for the places we sail. Lectures, yes — but mostly conversation, on deck, with binoculars.
All dining, all beverages, all shore experiences, gratuities, Wi-Fi, expedition gear. The only transaction aboard is the one you will not be asked to make.
